Head and Neck Cancer Diary Index

By Pauline Weston Thomas

Pauline's Cancer Diary

This section is about my personal situation with Occult Primary Head and Neck Cancer which was diagnosed just after I launched the fashion-era website.  I wrote the initial diary in 2002 mostly out of frustration at having to deal with the fact I had a hidden (occult) cancer and could not find much related information at the time.

The cancer diary covers the whole of my initial cancer illness and surgery/radiation treatment. It deals with my wondering what was wrong with me, finding a lump in the side of my neck, being told the Squamous Cell Carcinoma diagnosis, MRI and CT scans, surgery of node removal, planning for radiation treatment and mask making and 6 weeks radiotherapy treatment.  The post recovery was as gruelling as the treatment and there are many photos showing the resulting radiation induced face and neck burn and 17 days shown day by day of the skin healing post treatment.

As I had many enquiries after these initial pages I also added updates of dealing with taste and oral problems as they have occurred first over weeks, then months and now after 8+ years.

Cancer Diary

This section is totally unrelated to the fashion and costume aspect of the site and is a personal diary of my head and neck cancer treatment in 2002.   All prayers from all over the world have been most welcome and every day is a blessing, a gift from God.
