Alison was a student I once taught on a fashion course. She was a
good student in all aspects of the course, but amid very artistic
students was nervous about fashion drawing. By carefully following some rules she produced very acceptable
sketches using a basic silhouette template under paper. She used a 2B
lead pencil and colour tinted gently with Caran d'Ache water soluble
pencils.
The first sketch is historical and the second sketch is
of quilted waistcoats circa late 1970s early 1980s based on historical quilting as a
source of inspiration. The silhouette used gives a demure
gentle feel to the sketch and I'm sure you will agree she has got her
ideas over.
