Costume Plates of Children Below

On the first page of this section on costume and fashion plates some examples of costume plates are given.  Costume plates show costume as it was worn in the past, especially everyday past fashions.   Fashion plates promote and publicize possible future fashions.  Costume plates are about the fashions of the past and fashion plates are about fashion ideas now or the near future.  These costume plates of children are from a 1930 book I have.

These costume plates reflect the clothes styles children mostly wore.  Below the costume plates are some children's fashions extracted from fashion plates.   You will notice a similarity, but the costume plates are probably a much more realistic appraisal with styles garnered in retrospect from photographic evidence as well as fashion plates.
